BoBraz Saga: Updates!

Ok ladies (and gents), here is my update on the BoBraz hair:

The Good:

  1. If you're lazy for a day or two (or a few), and it gets a little jacked up, it's totally salvageable, and will look as fabulous as it did when you first installed it, if you just give it a little patience.
  2. I've had it for coming up on 4 months, and it is STILL beautiful.
  3. It blends beautifully with 3c-4b hair (4a & 4b with a little help from some Edge Control and a scarf)
  4. It looks VERY natural.
  5. Conditioner (leave-in or otherwise) is this hair's BEST FRIEND
The Bad:
  1. This hair is NOT for the perpetually lazy!
  2. Washing it is a process (will do a video on washing it)
  3. This hair does not like a lot of products (i.e., oil, gel, spritz). It WILL mat up on you.
  4. You need a routine for bedtime for this hair.
  5. If you don't seal the wefts, this hair will shed like a worried dog!

So, to prevent all of this, here are some easy steps to keep your BoBraz awesomely....awesome. LOL
  1. Only wash it with shampoo (sulfate free) once a month. When washing it:
    1. De-tangle with a wide tooth comb or Denman brush beforehand.
    2. Part hair into multiple (4 or more) sections.
    3. Use a shower comb (available at Target, WalMart, etc) while wetting each section.
    4. Shampoo each section, using a smoothing motion, not a scrubbing one.
    5. Use your shower comb while rinsing.
    6. Add conditioner, and comb through entire head
    7. Either leave in, or rinse, keeping it detangled.
  2. When co-washing it:
    1. Follow Shampoo steps 1-3
    2. Apply conditioner, and comb through with wide tooth comb.
    3. Allow conditioner to sit on hair for about 5-10 minutes
    4. Rinse, detangle, towel dry
    5. Spray with bottle mixture, or apply small amount of conditioner and style.
  3. The best "bottle mixtures":
    1. Water and conditioner (suggestions below):
      1. Tresemme Flawless curls conditioner
      2. Herbal Essences Totally Twisted conditioner
      3. Mixed Chicks Leave-in
      4. Kinky Curly Knot Today
      5. Kiehl's 133 Grooming Aid conditioner
      6. Nexxus Humectress conditioner
    2. Water, Glycerin, conditioner
  4. The best curl products:
    1. Kinky Curly Curling Custard
    2. Taliah Waajid Kinky, Wavy, Natural Herbal Style & Shine
    3. Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Serum
    4. John Frieda Serum (in the PURPLE bottle)
  5. You can use a diffuser if you like, but it's not necessary.
With this knowledge, your BoBraz will always "be poppin"!

    1. I actually didn't seal the BoBraz like I did with the Egyptian Wave, but I suggest Dritz Fray Check to seal them. Make sure you do, because this hair sheds A LOT!!!
